Osprey Tour

The Westport River is home to the largest Osprey colony in New England. Come explore the river and observe these magnificent birds from our excellent vantage point. We’ll paddle along the islands to view ospreys and see their courtship and nesting behaviors, fishing and diving, and hope to see young fledglings. This is a bird lover’s trip not to be missed.

Time: 3 hours
Level: Easy – No experience necessary
Dates: Scheduled April through July on the high tide or by appointment

Horseshoe Crab Tour

Horseshoe crabs are among the world’s oldest and most fascinating creatures. They are estimated to be at least 300 million years old. Every spring, horseshoe crabs crawl up onto the shore to mate and lay eggs during new moon high tides. Horseshoe crabs live their lives on the bottom of the ocean so their annual trip to the beach is your chance to see this ancient species. We will kayak along the shoreline of the Westport River to areas where the crabs are not disturbed in hopes of viewing these arthropods in action.

Cost: $59.00
Time: 3 hours
Level: Easy – No experience necessary
Dates: Scheduled by appointment April and May

In Search of Harbor Seals

Of the many species of marine mammals that might appear in our coastal waters, only harbor seals can really be considered residents of our local waters. They begin arriving in Narragansett Bay in October and stick around until May. There are consistent locations where you can generally find harbor seals lounging on a ledge or quiet beach sunning themselves for a few hours around low tide, or even bobbing in the water along the shoreline. Observing seals from our kayaks is truly a unique perspective. Most seals are quite curious and often will follow us from behind as we paddle along the coast.

Please note: As with the pursuit and watching of all wildlife, sightings can never be guaranteed. Although seals are usually sighted, we do not guarantee that we will encounter seals of any amount or of any specific type.

Cost: $69.00
Time: 3 to 4 hours
Level: Moderate- some previous kayaking experience recommended
Dates: TBA
