The L1/L2 ICW combines the Instructor Development Workshop and the Certification Exam into a single three-day course. The first two days of the course will focus on refining individual skills, session planning, managing groups, teaching concepts & assessment skills. The last day will be the instructor assessment where each candidate will have the opportunity to teach a variety of instructional sessions and be evaluated for certification.
Pre-requisites: Candidates interested in ACA Instructor Certification must possess current First Aid and CPR credentials. You may participate in the ICW without them but you will not receive Instructor certification until the information is provided to ACA. There are no required prerequisite skills to participate in the Level 1/2 ICW but, it is expected that all candidates are able to paddle at a appropriate skill level, commensurate with their desired level of training, prior to the course. See the ACA website for Instructor Criteria at each level, https://www.americancanoe.org/page/Instructor_Criteria .
